Forum: Webinar Discussion Topic: Comments from Webinar Demo ---------------------------------- BPAAdmin: Over the past 2 months a number of people have been in the Brooks Trading Room webinar to demo it. I would like to hear what people think and to have a place where others can read it. I will welcome any comments... positive or negative. The goal is to have a great place for people to learn Al's trading style and how it can be made better. Thanks for those that have helped. Tomorrow there will be a decision on pricing and the possibility of a day or two for everyone to demo it. jgiera: I like the format of webinar. Important to let Al have time to forumlate his thoughts on the market and not overwhelm and distract him with questions. I would like to ask one maybe two questions during each session, not more, on something I don't understand at given moment, but if there is eventually many people in the room, that's not a good idea. Then Q&A with Al after session should handle questions. Q&A is an important addition to forum. andre: Hello Al thanks a lot for your great invite on this demo, so I'm really interested on many more live trades or courses from you. I think only the sound was sometimes a little bid terrible perhaps you can something do there? And I wish a little bid more clarification about the different Bars, about sometimes give me so much when this, then that and then that... it's a little bid hard for some beginners in Price action readers. I trade last five years a lot with Trendlines and this is for me very close to Price action. But I neet something like Price action to filter some failed entry's and exits. So I like your way, about it's near the reality. Also your way about 5min Time Frame, this give me more consist to trade I always fall in 1min. You teach me a lot in your to great Book last 14 day's since I buy. Thanks Al for your real goodness Andre Hepp Munich -Germany- m435: I was allowed to attend the Live Room more than a month ago for one day only, after requesting access for several days. At the moment they were around 5 other traders there. They seem to be regulars at the Live Room because Al knew them by name.I was not allow any contact to Al. Other traders were able to ask questions in real time. I was granted access late, so I missed the opening comments. For me I believe the traders asking questions in real time are a distraction for everyone. I was just interested in hearing Al. Also, you will be able to see Al’s charts in real time with all his notes. If you have read and study Al’s book, the Live Room is an invaluable tool. You will see and understand in real time what you have read in the book. It is similar to going to classes, the book is your text book and the Live Room are classes, but in real time. You will hear Al commenting on the patterns and setups he is looking at. Also, all the factors that are influencing the market at a specific moment. You won’t hear Al calling trades, something like buy here sell there. I hope this help other traders understand what to expect at the Live room. I understand that making a decision to subscribe or not based on someone else experience is not easy. I strongly recommend that you at least try the room and make your decision. I wish I had the opportunity to attend the Live Room more than once in the past two months. Regular traders that have been attending the Live Room daily will have more comments on the room. gene: Hi Everyone, I was able to attend Al's Webinar Demo today and was very pleased with the format and Al's commentary along the way as he did a nice continuing update as the day progressed. This seems to be a great way for those somewhat new to trading only price action to grasp Al's concept on market activity. It was thorough and well presented.I look forward to more days like this either through invitation or sub.scription.I know it is difficult to handle end-of-day questions as after working in the market all session can deifinitely take its toll on ones thoughts and energy. It would be nice to have a short Q&A at days' end, but if it is too difficult to manage I certainly would understand. Thanks caltrader: I thought session was very informative and with Al being a man of few words actually helps since he wont digress to other topics. Here are my recommendations: 1) Al to describe continuasly his oberservations, not necessarily "bar by bar" what as what he looking at, what is the pattern he is sing or expects to see.He did that today ... but to keep the pulse of the market I guess. Though today was very slow range bound day. 2) Users should be able to send their questions to a hte moderator or someone so he/she keeps them in the queue for Q&A later.Q&A real-time somehwat counter-productive ... since some people might questions what was already discussed earlier or the day before etc...waiste of time but this can be done at the end of the session. 3) I noticed Al was in the market continuesly, though did not trade but he did not take a break.Like some people stop trading at 9:00 AM PST (Cali) and come back at 11:00 AM.If Al has similiar schedule then it's a good time for a quick Q&A instead of the end of the market close because...as I remember he said he starts at 5:00 am (California) ... if he stays another hour or longer after markets close ... it'll be a very long day for many of us.But if we can quezee in Q&A session in between breaks then it'll be more dynamic and "real-time" just my 2 pesos.8) Sam: I've been in the webinar twice and found it extremely helpful. To hear Al talked about what he is seeing as it develops has help solidify what I've have been learning from his book. If you want to learn the Brook's methodology, then the webinar is a must. Well done, AL, and thanks to you and the admins. dwt1020: I have been in the Webinar 2 times, and like Sam said before, found it to be extremely helpful. It shows how to take what we learned from reading the book and in this group's live chat and put it into live action.I am really looking forward to it going live and really learning Dr Brooks method of Trading PA. francispalacios: Hello to Al lll jj well... I was loose at the first part of the day, because audio problems... ( little low, with interference,, etc)... then I tried to pay attention on price action, but some questions distracted me... and to Al?? maybe, because I loose M2S at 64 and 74 because I looked for some test on top of TR... ok... I prefer to ear Al without distraction... and only with our best sets up in the clear way and no much explanation... for basics questions ... the EOD is the moment, I guess... I hope you understand me... and I wish will no bother Al with our distractions... sorry for my english,(it´s not my main language) Thanks a lot to Al and All for the experience... Francis richpuer: Hello. Today, i was fortunate enough to be one of the lucky ones chosen to demo the trading room. Thank you Al, and all you hardworking admins for that! I felt that today was indeed very educational and insightful. Al's comments were just as i expected and feel that by participating, i definitely gained new insight and reinforcement of the concepts in the book. To be more helpful, i will list some of my likes and dislikes about the experience today. In all fairness to Al, I am only going based off of one session, today's, so i apologize in advance if i state something that isn't entirely representative of the aggregate experience. LIKES: I like the way Al mentions if he did or did not take a certain trade and the reasons behind it. There were great justifications and definitely saved me money during today's trading. I like how Al points out certain setups and where stops should ideally be placed. There were also several times Al would repeat key ideas for the day's trading...like "we're in a range from here to here...."It was good to have the repetition because sometimes you have to use the restroom or tend to something else and it acts as a good reinforcement and reminder of day and what to focus on (Call me crazy, but I actually called my house phone with my cell and put the comp speaker next to the phone mic when i had to go outside for a break, for fear of missing a comment...). I like how there were individuals who were able to ask questions during the session. I would like this as well, but again, limited to 1-2 per day OR maybe set aside more time during the lunch-hr middle third of the day chop? A specific comment made by Al in the first hr compelled me to take the trade and go long...caught 3 points on that one bar right after his comment. DISLIKES/FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS: The quality of sound may need some tweaking for more clarity..When the admin came on, his voice was much more clear....Now, I believe i heard the Admin say that Al was under the weather, so maybe that was it?Its just that, at times, the questions asked sounded more clear to me than what al was saying...there were times when his voice was muffled and i had to turn the volume up really high just to make out his comments...But again, this is my first time in the session so maybe its not always the case.. Second, in regards to today's trading, specifically, Al was saying that he wouldnt take any trades in the mid-range and would wait until the mid-range stops were ran before putting on a trade...He definitely called this one and it sure saved me from trading and losing...BUT, when the stops were ran, I dont beleive i heard a comment to follow up on that...I didnt leave my comp during that time but i just watched and was waiting for a comment and just kept watching the mkt fall apart....So, im not sure if its me or something i missed, but if i didnt miss anything, i think it would have been great to have a comment in the later half of today, like...oh the scenario's changed..and go short...or something like that....am i asking for too much specifics? I understand how specifics may lead to trouble, as i do work in the brokerage industry..but if Al could be just slightly more specific, that would be great...I just felt like he wanted to take a trade today (trade less of course), but at the end of the day, when it looked like the setup we all waited for happened, there wasnt a follow thru comment at that point....sorry for all the jabbering but i hope it makes sense...and again, this is only my first impression so maybe its NOT ALWAYS the case. Thank you for today! gabrielg74: I have been one of the lucky ones in Al's room for a while now, and in the beginning it was hard to getting used to hearing him, after a while it is easier for me to understand him. There have been some sound issues some times, but nothing terrible, and sometimes the screen gets frozen for a couple of minutes, but this seldom happens. Sometimes it is easy to get distracted with something else when Al is silent for some periods of time, and when he starts talking I may miss a few of his words, but other than that I prefer 100 times the silence when there is nothing important to say, than idle chit chat. I like the fact that he only speaks when there is somthing important to say. The information he provides is invaluable, if you want to learn and clarify the teachings from his book and videos. The explanations and observations in real time of the charts are excellent, but you do need a bit of study beforehand to fully understand him. It is not a beginners room, just like his book. I have tried several live rooms before knowing Al, and there is just no comparison anywhere. If you are really interested in learning real Price Action this is the best there is. Just my opinion, Gabriel G. Tickbanker: The webinar is great and really invaluable, at least for me. I would have to agree, at times the sound was a little hard to understand and there was some feedback. An upgraded mic/headseat may cure that. What is so cool about the room is hearing the thought behind the action. I would disagree with some on questions and answers during the day. I think a silent format is best, letting Al just do his thing. Questions live may interrupt good signals or market thoughts. As I see it, this is the situation with the room as it stands. I find the room invaluable because I have previous experience and have read and studied Al's books, articles and Itrade webinars extensively. This format is best utilized by someone who has a sound understanding the market, read the book and studied the material. And by that I mean REALLY studied it. This is not a tool for beginners and it seems to me that Al is not interested in that market segment anyway. If it were a beginner type service, then Q&A and live teaching interaction would be a must. That means much more work for the teacher. If the teacher is teaching he cannot be trading. That is the genius and the value of the room as it is. It is the thoughts of an actual trading doing what he does best, trading, not teaching. salsamantrader: It was my first experience in the room, so I hate to post much judgement either way.I like the quietness of just a one way production.I at times would have like to ask a question (you miss a word or two and it's missed, but I know with a roomful it would just be chaos for someone so focused. While I generally understand most of the reading material, I did have trouble following (turning de.scriptions of text into visuals) some of the critical elements of bars and placements of stops and buy stops. In many of the graphs of the books, it was difficult for me, personally, to understand exactly which bar matched up with the numbers at times, therefore throwing off which is the signal bar and then entry bar.Hence my understanding of the stops and buy stops are also off. I know it is probably more a personaly issue with focus myself, but some of us do learn differently than others. The room brings the ability to listen about a specific bar, at THAT moment.I am very good with trendlines, measured moves, wedges, legs, etc.I've got that down well I believe. But the context of consolidation bars at turning points still baffle me as to what is a good series and a bad series of bars. I want to learn to fish, not to pay for my fish at the store. When I was young a neighbor taught me how to fix cars.It saved me from taking the bus many times over the years. In return, I have taught many young people how to do the same.Hopefully, in the future I can save others from the ruin that I have done myself in the trading world. And I think Al can do it. gahome: Thank you very much for your invitation today to join your demo trading room.I found this room is very useful for me to learn Dr. Brook’s method.I have a lot of questions after reading Dr. Brook’s book; however, I got some of my questions answered from attending this demo.I believe if I continue to listen to Dr. Brook’s webinar, I will be able to get all of question answered.I definitely will subscribe to this trading room when it becomes available. I would like to express my feeling about today’s trading room.I have a lot of same feelings as some of the traders who attended the webinar today. Things that I liked: 1.Dr. Brook only spoke when there was information to commutate to us. 2.Dr. Brook explained to us which signals should be taken and which signals should be avoid and why. Things that I dislike: 1.Q & A in the room caused distraction. 2.Dr. Brook’s voice was a little hard to hear.It was a little low.I am not sure if he didn’t speak directly into the microphone, or there was other technical issue. Suggestions: 1.Short Q & A during lunch time or after market hour. 2.Should limit people to ask questions during market hour. fuzzy: I found the live webinar room very helpful. I really like the market insight he provided. We all can find setups to trade. It's the bad trades that separate the winners and failures. The most valuable thing I found today in the live demo room is Al kept reminding us when not to trade so that we can avoid bad trades. leont: i was only able to listen in for a day. i don't think it would be enough for an opinion. as always, al remains a person of interest to me. green: Anybody can do an End of Day analysis and claim to be an expert but seeing and listening to Al do it live confirmed that he's the real deal.It was a tremendous help and I'm greatful for the opportunity. Please do not clutter it up with live Q & A. Thanks to Al and Admin CJF2626: I have been able to be in the room for the last several weeks and have cherished every moment.I have read Al’s book and this is a valuable continuation of that learning. The commentary during the day points out, practically, where the concepts discussed in the books happen in reality.Everyone eventually will have to make the decision to enter a trade on their own and in their own style, taking into account their own capacity for risk.So I do not worry so much as to someone actually telling me when to trade. What I find the most valuable is the interpretation of the market as the price action is telling us.This then will lead to grasping the risk that is involved, which then ultimately leads to the personal decision to enter a trade or not. Thus this format that Al has been doing, is ideal for me and I am grateful for him taking his time and doing this for myself and others.Al must be able to get the things he needs done first and thus others must come second. We all need to respect that.I would opt for just a handful of questions after the market closes to recap or make clarifications which should be monitored by an admin type person. Thanks again Al for your time and looking forward to things to come. Also thanks to the admins of this site for all your help in setting this up. nini: I have been in Al's webinar from the beginning.I feel like I am the most fortunate person to have a chance to learn directly from a great trader. I have read his book many times and introduced it to many of my trading friends. But reading the book is simply not enough for me. Going to Al’s webinar is like going to a class and seeing how the professor makes sense of all the materials in the book. Some people (like Al himself) may be able to be self-taught from a textbook, but for me, it is extremely helpful to have someone to explain everything to me. Trading is like driving in a fog. Al is a great driver and I am a fortunate passenger to watch how he navigates through it. I am amazed at how good he is.In the beginning I was an excited scalper, taking almost every setup I could find. I even wrote on the forum asking Al to write more about extreme scalping. Gradually, I learned from him how to weed out the low probability setups. After about two months in Al’s webinar, I have been able to greatly improve my profitability and most of all my confidence. To me, Al is a very good teacher who is willing to share his trading experience and knowledge. He always helps me by answering my questions and explaining the concepts behind setups in a clear manner. Thus I wholeheartedly thank him for the help he has given me. AL gave me a great gift, he gave me the gift of knowledge that nobody can take away. I recommend Al’s live trading room to everyone who wants to become a better trader and see for themselves. BuyYourFreedom: The only suggestion I have would be to improve the audio. At times I was struggling to hear and understand what Al was pointing out. It could be an inferior microphone or something as simply as asking him to speak a little louder.Other than that I enjoyed the room immensely. Well done. BYF OCSteve: Live commentary where Al discusses the PA without distractions is the best way to learn from him, and to leave Al to his natural personal trading, while we "look over his shoulders". Al's de.scription of the live price action and the risk involved (BW vs 50-50 vs 70% trades) ultimately leads us to the personal decision to enter a trade or not. We will have to learn to make the decision to enter a trade in our own style and capacity for risk. I view Al's commentary as a "guide" to unfolding PA possibilities and their associated risk. I support keeping this webinar as simple as possible. Nummer: I thoroughly enjoyed the demo on Thursday and thought Al's style was fantastic and informative and very useful during live market action. I enjoyed the no extraneous chit chit that you typically get with most chat rooms. I have read Al's Book three timesbought and given away as gifts about 15 copies of the book and I have gone over his articles and Futures Magazine workshop recordingsmany, many times in an attempt to master Al's trading methodog. I understand you have to limit questions from the audience to keep the chat room moving forward in a very business like manner, but I found it a little frustrating that I was not allowed to ask Al a few questions when I could hear other people doing so. During the day, there were about two or three times where I wanted to ask Al Something about what he said on the chart.Perhaps in the future we could find a way to balance the two. Overall, it was a great experience. CheRico: My experience in the room the past two days broadly supports the joys-and-concerns expressed by others. In short, it appears that the form and content Al presents now has converged on what it will be once the sub.scription service is opened, and I for one would plan to enroll. Repeated practice is key for developing skills such as those required for trading, and the pithy no-nonsense commentary Al provides is ideal. The issue of interactivity might best be incorporated by having someone in the role of facilitator to meter real time requests to Al.Also, as members of this community gain expertise, perhaps Al would enjoy taking a day off each week, and advanced students could cover such a day. No, I'm not in that category (yet)... Universal salutation: "Thanks Al !" TrendHunter: thanks for letting me attend a webinar...i found it very helpful CozyK: I have been fortunate to attend the webinar a few times. It has been a superb experience to listen to Al in realtime as the day plays out. If you are looking for someone to call trades all day you are in the wrong place, that's not what this is about. But if you are looking for someone to make ongoing observations of market structure, in other words help make sense of the market as the day unfolds, then the webinar is an essential addition to the book. Even better, what it does is bring the book to life, and I sincerely thank Al and the admins for creating this trading "room". monkfish: I really like the structure and content of the chat room. Al does a great job of providing a real-time analysis of what's happening in the markets and it really helps to see his charts as he talks. Another huge plus for me is that Al is the only one talking in the chat room. I really don't want to hear other people talk during the trading day. All in all, I'm very impressed with the set-up and will be joining the sub.scription service when that begins. jz166: That's just awesome job by Al! Thanks a millions! ricky.ricx: In webinars Al always saying his plan, when there is new bar there is new plan. Most of the plan are just keep changed into different plan whenever the new bar arrive. (at first it didn't fits me, i used to using fixed trading strategy like indicator based or single signal based) In my mind Al method works like this: Quote: › docWrite("quote") Bar(s) read -> Plan -> correct plan -> setup -> signal bar -> p/l or Plan -> not correct plan -> Re read Bar(s) and so forth Bar(s) read : Al's draws trendlines, wedges, read hxlx, current bar situation is it in trending or ranging, channels, or anything that says inside the book. Plan : Al's often says... this will does that its not good buy, if this goes that its good buy, if it does this i buy after it pull back, this is tat thing so i wait, etc. ACS: I was given a chance to listen behind the curtain of the wizard's chamber today. As the most vocal opponent of the way access to the room was given, let me be the loudest proponent of the room itself. Once the audio issue is ironed out* it will be the most incredible learning opportunity imaginable. Until you watch him in action you cannot believe the depth of knowledge Al so graciously shares with all. It is the Crown Jewels and the Hope Diamond all in one! *Al needs a new microphone or a weekend with Henry Higgins warrior: Thank you Al and Ken and others, for a trial of the room.My feedback below: - Listening Al guide is a dream come true for his followers/readers - Al is talking just about right, not too much (could even go less if he would like) - It was distracting when some users were asking questions during in the middle, I think the Q&A should be restricted either pre or post market only - I think Al needs a new mike since his volume his volume is low - No need to show other instruments since mostly everyone is trading/focused on ES, but did appreciate Al showing daily/weekly/monthly ES charts in between - I think minimum requirement when the room is opened to everyone should be that the trader has at least read Al's book once (possibly twice) so that the newbies don't get disappointed that they are not getting hand holding. This room is for intermidiate or above traders I suppose, and for newbies who are patient and take their time to learn to trade and not start going all over the place expecting profitability from day 1 (there are plenty of entertaining rooms for trading which don’t do much good). Overall great efforts, thank you. richpuer: Today was my second day in the trading room and i have to say that my expectations were exceeded once again. Again, my previous review may not have done this experience any justice but i will continue to participate and watch. I appreciate that all the comments were up to speed with the market and Al discussed details about low risk entries and such...he was right on the money on several of the entries and i commend him for that. I like how he discussed the pros and cons of the trade and what the possible implications would be. Its also great hearing him say he "would or would not" take a certain trade. It definitely gives me more confidence before entering knowing that Al feels the same. Often i like to call a trade in my mind and wait to see if Al feels the same way...Those comments just top it off. Thank you again for today! Have a great weekend! R.A.: The webinar today was great. We are trying to learn PA for ourselves, Al's explanations and insight is worth its weight in gold. I have always viewed the markets as random, with the explanations form Al it put some sort of order to PA. I appreciate very much Al's years of experience passed on. We get some explanations from him that saves both my time and speeds up the learning curve, hopefully. The down side is the sound is tough to hear, or hard to understand. Not impossible, but a person really has to be paying close attention. I am looking forward to the room being opened. As the chat roomhas become a home with the friendships I've acquired, Al's room will add to my education. Thanks to everyone involved pularis: I would like to thank the good folks behind the initiative for letting me attend the session yesterday and today. Here are my views - The overall experience was fantastic, both in terms of the setup and the content. Al's simple chart setup makes it easy to follow along and his style of going mic silent frequently gives time to think on your own. However, we do need to do some expectation management. Is the room going to be run like a signal calling service, an educational service or a hybrid allowing us to earn while we learn the methodlogy. The hybrid option would probably be the most desirable. Al spends a lot of time ranking and rating setups so that is a big hlep as he paints different scenarios. I would have liked us to stay more on ES that we did but Al does trade for a living and he needs to trade where he finds the best odds. I am assuming there will be some kind of chat facility for the attendees to talk to each other. There probably was one available, I was too busy listening to Al. I would suggest stopping the audio questions during the trading day unless Al wants a q&a during lunch time and then have a wrap up at the end of the day. Thanks Again. Harry gretrading: Bad luck: I have had very little notice that I could attend the webinar today. I had previous commitments and to my dismay I was able to listen for the first couple of hours and a bit at the end. So I can give a very limited review. What I have heard however was very good, thorough and straight to the point. I am convinced that this is a unique opportunity to really learn from a top trader. I will add my voice to those requesting a better audio. I would also suggest to avoid having other people asking questions directly, but to have instead the possibility to post questions to a moderator that will sift and pass them to Al when he feels right. Overall a very positive experience and looking forward for the nest, more comprehensive lesson. Thank you Al and the administrator Turtleman21: Today was my first opportunity to participate in the webinar, and it was an eye-opening learning experience.Al's observations and real-time explanations of the price action he sees bring his excellent book and other writings to life, and his straight-forward educational style is perfect for me.I'm not looking for someone to call trades for me; instead I appreciate greatly having Al teach me to be a better fisherman, as it were. I didn't have any trouble hearing Al clearly. As for questions, it would be nice to have a few minutes at EOD, as we did today, but the key for me is to make this experience satisfying and acceptable to Al so that he will continue to work with us.I am simply grateful for whatever guidance Al is willing to provide. Thanks very much to everyone who has worked so hard on this. glorfindel: Only found out about the broadcast in the last 1/2 hour of the day, so can't really comment. Was really pleasantly surprised to find that there was live charts as well as audio. Great job! Pdubbs: I have spent one 1/2 day afternoon the webinar.Generally I would have to give the format a thumbs up. Audio:Agree with other's commentary, could be improved a bit, but I could live with it. Video/Charts:Were crystal clear and easy to read visually.Watching Al mark a chart as he goes along thoughout the market day is excellent. Al's Market Hours Commentary:To me was not too much, not to little, just right. Asking question when Al is trading:To me, audio wise a big HECK NO except by the head moderator for clarification purposes only (e.g.Didn't hear last comment, etc).I don't want Al's thoughts taken aside when he is calling the market. This is really what the room is about to me, to see what goes on inside the traders mind.To learn from his mind, you must let his mind flow naturally and not be interupted. Al's "I'm done trading Q&A":This is a FANSTASTIC value add. This is the time to ask questions, when Al is done trading. People asking questions in chat:I would really like to see what questions are being asked in chat.I could only see mine. Queueing up questions:It would be nice to queue a chat question during the day, to be answered later, only if it doesn't interupt Al's flow. Room's primary purpose:I know people will be paying $$$ for this service, but I have been in other pay rooms where many a time, it becomes dominated with people asking questions instead of reading and doing their homework, and the day becomes a Q&A teaching session instead of calling the market. I personally am looking for a "calling the market" style, not "ask all my questions about PA" style. This is what I liked most about my afternoon in the webinar. Potential thought not sure if I like it or not:A separate optional audio/chat room for those in webinair to discuss in real time what al is talking about. traderVic: Al's trading room is immensely valuable to someone wanting to continue learning the methods he introduces in his book.I appreciate his relaxed style of dynamically analyzing the market. The EOD commentary is great, but there is no substitute for Al's real time analysis. If you pay attention, there is a great deal of knowledge to be gained from Al during each unique trading day.I thought the end of day questions (once Al was done trading for the day) was a nice addition. The only criticism I was going to make was the sound quality. However, that was much improved today.Oh, and the black and white charts are much easier to read than the colored bars on black background that Al briefly experimented with this morning.I am grateful to Al for pursuing this endeavor and to the admin for all his work.Thank you. surly: Thanks for all who're making the mechanics work for the webinar and thanks again to Al for sharing his knowledge. My comments don't add to those that have come before so I'll just say that while I could only participate up to noon pst I found it very valuable and am looking forward to participating moving forward. Very excited actually - I got a lot out of Al's de.scriptions of possibilities and why those possibilities might or might not happen. Getting the insight into how a professional trader with that much experience makes decisions is very helpful. I especially found it interesting to hear when Al was NOT taking trades because too much uncertainty existed. A couple nuts and bolts comments: - the black and white w white background was the easiest to see. - I'm in favor of limiting any q&a until after the market closes. - the audio was fine for me - I would recommend to those having trouble hearing to get better speakers or to use headphones as I had no trouble whatsoever. thanks again! candlestick: There is absolutely no way you won't become a better trader by listening toAl's chat. I don't know if someone was asking Al ?'s or if he was answering his own ?'s .Either way that was perfect. no need for any more explanations or?'s IMHO. richpuer: I have never used any trading rooms before but have read several books and donated enough to understand the mkts to a certain degree...Al's room definitely keeps me out of impulsive chop trades and reminds me to be patient to wait for the perfect, low risk, high probability setup. He is definitely right about those trades where you can win alot in a certain day but be on the losing side in the long run....love his comment about keeping the winning percentage high and make less trades...definitely less stress and anxiety. CozyK: I commented on the webinar earlier but just wanted to add a few points that others have mentioned: 1) Al's audio was fine, not great, but certainly manageable. 2) I agree with what the majority here say that there should be NO QUESTIONS DURING THE TRADING DAY. Like others I found it annoying and it seemed to interfere with the smooth flow of Al's thoughts and focus. So if it all possible any general Q&A should be put off until after Al has finished trading so as not to disrupt anyone's attention. Resistor: - the screens are perfect i.e. no chance of blurring - if you had used webex or something similar, gotomeeting is a competitor pdt. These platforms are used by corporate world everyday for remote meetings and sometimes with thousands of attendees. I used such stuff regularly myself. - Voice is via VOIP, I guess like skype or MSN. today's voice quality was better, not sure anything was changed? maybe Al has a new mic - Sticking to the white background is fantastic! - sometimes the screen does not refresh (not sure why) - there's a lot of information to digest as Al goes thru the day, so you probably have to read his book or EOD for a length of time and get used to it first - Do not expect to have clear calls on L & S points - if you follow the analysis you probably can find them yourself (so some digestion of the information) - Q&A should be minimized. Maybe just allow typing in instead of hearing another voice. There should be a chat screen that Al canlook at when it is really sideways or quiet or end of day. There is a IRC chat room on this website if people want to chat without distracting Al - some common etiquette should be lay out I guess - My greatest concern as Al repeated a few times, he may start a fund and hint that he may stop doing this, if that is the case hearing his analysis for these few months in what is going on and able to analyze partly on your own later on is going to be crucial. Some people may otherwise prefer short comments like EOD just for trading purposes. In short, it is worthwhile and great! Thanks for bringing it to us!! It's certainly a big effort! cheers! Tenshi: I am in a different time zone so I could only take in the first part of the webinar, next time I will stay up all night.Just to hear Al wondering aloud his thoughts (ranging day/trending day) were so precious to hear.Learned so much and just hope that it doesn't interfere with Al's trading in any way, so that this will be a continuing event! zen: Al and team at the site, Thank you for invitation for the trading room. As many have pointed out, it was a fantastic experience and I really enjoyed it. A few random thoughts: 1. Al's comments - some may have commented prior but it is really valuable to hear in raw format his thoughts as it happens real time as the market is unfolding. With the quiet but concentrated setting, my understanding/ thoughts are fortified with his view. I was able to pick up subtle nuance that it is hard to pick up from static medium like books and such. As others mentioned, I agree that one needs to understand some basic lingo and should be familiar/ have been trading with his method to take benefits out of this. Al's comments just sunk into my brain like jigsaw puzzle pieces come together. 2. Environment - It was really nice and quiet when Al is not making comments and so I could just concentrate on my own reading. Al makes comments so I can confirm and learn. What a fantastic setup it was. Kudos to creating such a setup. 3. Regarding a paid live trading room - I would be happy to pay for such service if and when available, maybe at a block of time (instead of monthly sub.scriptions for me). Ultimate goal would be to incorporate and solidify my own trading style and I think this service will be be invaluable at no end. Again thank you Al for this opportunity and for sharing your superb master skills. And thank you for the team also! klb: The webinar Fri. was very helpful, it helped me understand what I read in the book much better. The sound wasn't real good. I had to turn the volume all the way up. One other negitive, when you talk adout a potentail good set up, don't try to talk us out of it. You talked me out of a winning trade that I normally would have taken. It was a good set up acording to the book. However, later in the day I was watching what I thought could have been a trade and you pointed out why it wasn't. It saved me from a loser. All in all, I liked it and I'm looking forward to the next one. Thanks Ken lipton80205: This was my first time attending the room. First thank you to Dr. Brooks and those who facilitated the room. This was event was superior to any other room which I have attended in the past. Having Dr. Brooks explain setups, when not to trade and other nuances of PA has help greatly reinforce the content and principles of his book. The 4 hours I was able to listen, I believe I have learned more in that 4 hours then in the last 4 months. I hope that those parties involved do continue forward with opening this room to a sub.scription base of members. This room will greatly help traders accelerate their learning of PA. While I believe having a Q&A would helpful to others, and myself I think that the Q&A should be left for after market hours, so not interfere with Dr. Brooks trading and commentary. I do agree with other posters, that at times the volume level was difficult to hear other then this minor challenge I was 100% satisfied with my investment of time. Additionally, if and when the sub.scription room goes live I will most certainly become a member. Again thank you to all those that where involved. Thank you, Jason davewolfs: Al is a great teacher and trader. He goes through his entire thought process through each trade considering both the pros and cons - this is how you must think to win this game identifying risk and potential reward since realistically, all trades have a 50% probability of being successful for that specific opportunity. It's what your percentage is over time that counts and from what I can see Al's is very high. I think the biggest advantage that traders can get out out of this is to learn how to think whole brained rather then being completely rigid with what they have learned in the book.To win you must be loose and disciplined. You will see Al highlight his best setups and also learn some new tricks. Just a few examples from Friday are understanding when a trade might be fine even though the SB is not perfect, executing an order at bar close rather then 1 tick above/below. Understanding that certain instruments cover and average range during pullbacks and why it's ok to place a limit order during these. Information like this is priceless for the new trader. My only warning or suggestion to those who are already consistent with your own trade setups is that if you feel strong conviction in your trade and are preparing to enter an order it can be beneficial to mute your own audio just to eliminate any thought that might cause you to doubt your own trade. At the same token, listening might keep you out of a bad trade. So as a user you have to decide what is best for you. Ultimate respect to Al and a big thanks to both him and the administrative team who have worked so hard to get us here. Cheers, Dave candlestick: I thought the sound was fine. But any one having trouble hearing may want to check out plantronics. I think they have the higher end headset / microphonefor voip. or may be just a noise canceling headsets would help. Nitz: Big Al and team, I really enjoyed the demo room and appreciated the invitation. Comments and suggestions: Video was very clear but the audio was quite low. I have a high quality headset and on it's max level, I struggled to hear Al. It almost sounded hollow...as if it were a desk mic and it was too far away from Al. The narrator sounded much more clear. I know Al tried to change the color of the cursor in TS with no luck. Maybe change the cursor to Black, in windows...I have mine configured that way and it works nicely. I didn't have a problem following the white cursor, but it's just a suggestion in case anyone found it a bit difficult. I think the format was great. Listening to Al's thought process and reasoning about the mkt dynamic is really what this is all about and that is exactly what I got from the room. What each individual does with that info is a different story, lol. Outside of the audio issue, which I have had before with some of the screen share programs, it was fantastic. I would definitely be interested in becoming a member. Well done guys. Nitz mbradley: Based on what I saw on Friday, I would not change a thing.I like it just as it is.No fluff - just Al discussing the market. bojia88: Al's sound came in clear. Very good real time analysis on the mkt. It is a good place to learn how to read the mkt and formulate trading plan bar by bar. Definitely will be subscribing it to the webnar and recommend to everyone who wants to trade better. Tralee: I thought the webinar was very informative. It was great to hear Dr. Brook explain the current movement that was happening and what he foresee the movement to be and why.I have never attended anything like it.I can not wait to see how we proceed. Thank you for taking the time to do this.If we can utilize the time you have slotted for us to learn it would be most advantageous. idolinin: I definitely like the way it goes. But with all my respect to Al, i must say i can't trade while listening and watching what Al does. It would be better for me to watch the recording of the webinar after hours, especially some extraordinary, at Al's opinion, days. I am willing to pay extra for the access to the archive, or pay separate fee for the access to the archive only. I would prefer paying for each recording separately though. ymoca: First day in the room today. The quiet relaxed format with Al speaking only when he has a point to bring up is great. It will definitely help with learning and reinforcing the many principles Al teaches in his book. No trouble hearing Al, although at times the sound seemed a bit broken up, like there was an electrical interference problem. I agree somewhat with the previous poster, in that listening to Al had an influence on the way I perceived the set-ups that I saw, and may have affected some of the trading decisions I made today. Will need more time to determine if this will negatively impact me or not in the long run. I've always avoided trading chat rooms for this reason. That being said, the webinar will still be a great learning tool. I'm sure it will benefit me and everyone else that participates in it. tapesense: Really enjoying this and I think Al is going to enjoy it as well. Confusing when a user asked question, I thought Al was being kept from having distractions like that. I don't think everyone being able to talk makes sense, a chat window, already a part of the gotomeeting setup, will allow users to talk, ask questions but it can be ignored when Al is trading, allow users to focus on just what Al says too. The forum or irc isn't as good as a simple chat window that you get when you log in .. GraceUnderPressure: I have been following the webinars for several hours a day since Monday. They are terrific. Al’s 20+ years of trading the ES shows through clearly. His real time predictions of what the market might do next are uncanny. The webinar format, in my opinion, is a fabulous way to learn Al’s trading style. The audio could be better, but I am quite willing to live with it. I believe opportunities like this come very, very rarely so I am going to squeeze as much as I can out of these webinars even if it means sacrificing some trading time in the Asian markets. Frank: I like the chat room. Al does a great job of providing a real-time analysis of what's happening in the markets and it really helps to see his charts as he talks. I'm very impressed with the set-up and will be joining the sub.scription service when that begins. lo: I have been able to view his webinar only once. Al is superbe. I really liked how he can see how the market goes. I learn better by doing, so I will be trading on my simulator while Al is talking. What could be improved: - Improving the audio would really help - Let Al talk quietly, and let us have a way to send our questions. Whenever Al feels like it, he may want to use these questions to add to his explanations. - Recording the whole webinar, as well as the questions/answer sessions would be extremely useful as I would like to review my trades and correct these using Al's explanations. Though I am only a beginner, I intend to pay to watch Al as he is an fabulously profitable trader. It is so rare to see a trader who can make money, that I do not want to miss the opportunity. terratec: I went three times through the book (which is a hard and slow read) and I am trading in a way like Al Brooks does. I spent some days in the demo webinar which is a great place for education. But I am trading for a living and in those days my profits came down. There is too much distraction when Al is speaking and showing things on the charts while I am deciding about the trade. For an active trader recorded Q&A with a day summary – something like Al does in the room at the end of the day - or a weekend webinar with some highlights of the last days would make more sense for me. BPAAdmin: terratec wrote (View Post): › docWrite("quote") For an active trader recorded Q&A with a day summary – something like Al does in the room at the end of the day - or a weekend webinar with some highlights of the last days would make more sense for me. I am glad to hear you are doing well trading Al's methods. At the end of the day Al will usually do a summary and take questions at least a few times a week. You can just join the webinar for the last half hour to get that. fredblogs: The brooks trading room is brilliant. I strongly feel that to allow questions from traders during trading hours would be detrimental to the relaxed atmosphere. The QAsession at the end of the trading day is also brilliant. thanks Al for sharing trade safe every-one calam1: I have been listening to Al's webinar and also would love it if it were recorded so that I can catch up on some of the commentary that I missed during the day. Some people listen to music while they work, I listen to Al :) One thing I wish people stop asking Al, at least stop incessantly asking him, is what trades he took.It appears that it is starting to get on his nerves when he takes questions at the end of the day, maybe I am wrong, but it is a feeling I get while listening. It is a great opportunity to have this access to Al's thinking as the market unfolds. Hephaestus: For those who want a recording, go buy Camtasia Studio. The recorder does an excellent job. I start recording as soon as Al starts and then go off to work. I stop the recording when I get home (unfortunately, it does not have a feature to stop based on a timer), then I cut off the excess portion from the end, plus any long sections without any commentary. (It has a visual editor, very much like Windows Movie Maker). You can size the webinar window down to 640x320 to keep a day's file size to about 140MB for one day, yet the charts are still quite legible. Full size at 1280x640 makes a huge file, about 2GB! Being a webinar, with very little screen action, I keep the frame-rate down to 4fps to reduce file size & prefer to allocate the file size on audio quality instead. Edit: And before anyone even asks... "No", I will not send you my recordings. The content on them is not mine to share. Mick: Hephaestus, You bring up an option I had not thought of being in a similar situation of being at work when the room was open. Can anyone tell me when the room opens so I can tell if I would be able to start recording at the time I leave for work? Hephaestus: This week the link has been available right around 8CST. The webinar opens a new window shortly after. You'll need to be available to start the recorder then, unless you just start recording your entire screen as soon as the link is avaialble. You'll need a pretty big hard drive and a decent processor with lots of memory to do this, but you can then edit the size of the file down substantially once you get home. I've done this once with Camtasia and it ran perfectly.(I've tried MANY recorders in the past for recording webinars and was disappointed with all of the others... typically, the video was choppy or I couldn't get sound to record). I have an AMD TL-60 laptop with 4G ram, FYI. What I've done is bought a second monitor. I run the webinar on it and record, that way I can still use my main screen. The first day I recorded, I couldn't use my computer all day without such a setup. There's a tremendous benefit to watching real-time. You get a real feel for the tempo of the market in a way that you don't when watching a recording where you can fast-forward past the boredom. I think that's a very important part that is often not discussed... the experience that comes with lots of screen time. BPAAdmin: I hope to have information next week on making recordings available to subscribers. There are some volunteers that have approached me on doing this. I wouldn't want to see people needlessly spend money on Camtasia all to do the same thing. GraceUnderPressure: While many people need to be at work, there are also those of us who should be in bed! Recordings will certainly be a welcome addition. Mick: Thanks for the feedback. Will wait to hear more on possible availability of recordings. szubaark: Yes Recordings would beVERY HELPFUL.I would do my own but my computer isnt powerful enough. Recording will help with later review if someone cant watch all day due to work, vacations, lunch breaks....etc. calam1: Any updates on the recordings???I have Camtasia to record the trading day so I can play it back and try to learn from the day.The problem with the webinar is that I am already on my way to work when the webinar link is posted, so unfortunately I can't record it at home. TK9: GotoToWebinar says that their software has a recording capability built in.It should be accessible from the menu, but apparently ours is disabled or something because I do not see it on the menu for the webinar application. Also, I am using Camtasia to record the webinars. In order to not require dedicating one of my screens to recording, I just installed Camtasia in a Virtual PC image and record the webinar in the Virtual PC image.I am running on an older single processor laptop, so I adjust the priority of the Virtual PC thread to "Above Normal" to alleviate problems with the audio getting mangled by other processes. If you are unable to be around to start recording the meetings, maybe you could use something like GotoMyPC to log into your home PC from work to start the webinar and Camtasia.Make sure you turn off your screen saver as this will cause Camtasia to not record the screen. Hephaestus: Those are some great suggestions. As for the GTM recording capability, it's just for the host of the event, not attendees. The admin should be able to record though. I never thought of using my virtual pc to record. I went and bought another small screen just so I could record these. Can you actually minimize the VPC and have it still record? (I'm using VMWare, btw). The problem I run into with a second screen is if I close the lid on my laptop, it messes up teh recording off the second monitor. Another tool for accessing your PC remotely is a program called Team Viewer. And it is totally free for personal use. Thanks to your suggestions, I'm going to get a RDP for my iPhone so I can remotely control Camtasia. TK9: I am using XP image in Virtual PC with VPC extensions and not in full screen mode.I can minimize the screen, and it still records just fine.I did have to turn off the screen saver inside the VPC or it messed up the recording. The only thing I have wired about my Camtasia recording is that it would not recognize my laptop speaker - probably a driver problem.Anyway, I just put a splitter (so I can still use my headphones) on the headphone port so that I could run a line in from the headphone port to the microphone port and record the audio that way. Have not tried this with VMWare, so I don't know if that will work.VPC 2007 is here:http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/support/virtual-pc-2007.aspx Hephaestus: Thanks, I'm using Vista Home so VPC won't work (only Pro or Ultimate). I actually found that no RDP will work on Vista Home either, so no iPhone remote desktop or VPN will work. It used to work, but MS disabled Terminal Services after sp1... Thanks a bunch Microsoft! Sooooo, I decided to get screwed by MS once again and ponied up for Win7 Pro x64. Remote desktop from iPhone and VPC should both work now. I'll probably convert my existing Vista installation to an image and run it as a virtual machine since I have two HDDs in my laptop. I also had to get a patch cable as Camtasia does not recognize my sound card. Line in works fine. phani: BPAAdmin, Do you have any update on recordings of Al's webinars. Resistor: anyone knows of any media player that can forward to parts where Al is speaking in a recording? or any tool that can transcribe accurately enough? thanks Hephaestus: Resistor wrote (View Post): › docWrite("quote")anyone knows of any media player that can forward to parts where Al is speaking in a recording? or any tool that can transcribe accurately enough? thanks I believe any video opened in Windows Movie Maker can show a visual timeline at the bottom, so you can see blank sections and fast forward over them. I'm not sure, but you may have to manually split the audio to a separate timeline. I can only go by memory though, because since i upgraded to Windows 7, it no longer has Movie Maker. Resistor: thanks Hephaestus - never knew this tool existed in my XP the video displayed is horrible (I think it shrinked) and not quite viewable but the timeline is there and shows you where the audio (wave pattern) are located my ideal tool would be to have a fast forward button that can forward to where there is sound/speech - sounds simple but I cannot believe it is so hard to find such a feature cheers Hephaestus: Blank Skip is a really common feature on cassette decks. Not sure why you can't find a digital media player with the same feature. BPAAdmin: We will have edited videos this week if all goes well. Fatudno: Hello BPAAdmin, Can I just pay for the recording since I am still working and don't have time during the day, or if that is bundle with live webinar? Why were other people able to ask questions and not me, because of first day? Thanks. Rosa BPAAdmin: The questions box is only open for a short time. We will also be cutting down the number of questions at the end of the webinar because Al is starting to lose his voice by then. Email me in the morning and I will help you. bpaadmin@brookspriceaction.com ramps: A superb resource, I especially appreciate and enjoy the 2hr recordings. Since starting on Als book 4 months ago my trading has entered a final flag consolidation stage. I muck up through discipline issues mainly, and as Al has said teaching a method will not be enough to make a trader successful. Al needs to look after his voice though I think. It is getting rough at times. The Alexander technique is helpful. Many thanks to all involved. tulanch: Today I sat in on the Webinar and found it extremely eye opening. The frustrations I see during the day are taken in stride by Al - calm, cool and collective as well as patient. He is constantly reviewing each and every bar adjusting his perception of the market context, waiting for 2-3 signs to align, indicating a LRHP trade setup. And most importantly re-assessing what has occurred and providing rationale of what should typically occur. What a great way to get a second opinion of what I am thinking about or better yet, what I am unaware of and should be thinking about.Today he provided so many little insights. For example, price tends to go above the high of a doji that follows a RB - I do not have enough appendages to count how many times I have been bitten by that, yet in review of a few charts, there it is, over and over again… I believe I’ve been too busy studying the bark of trees within a forest instead of observing, how, over time, changes occur in the forest. Also worth noting, and I don't know if he does this every day but, the review at the EOD was invaluable. Somewhere I have read to be successful at this one should study the market as well as pick a mentor.I pick Al. Profit_Warning: Hello all, just a few lines to tell you that I really liked the webinar and profited from it. The only problem for me was the languge. My English is not good enough to follow all yours explications in detail, but more or less I got the most important things. I'm sure I'm going to suscribe, I think I'll do it in the "Spanish" Trading Room in a few days (I'm taking now a couple days off). It is going to help me improving my trading for sire. Thank's ;-) jbtrader: i am now halfway through my month in the webinar.overall comments are poistive since i am learning more about your terminology and most important gaining insights on the context of the action.being able to understand better why particular price action is occurring is as important as the action itself as it provides a process to confirm thinking and execution. the down side so far is when you are calling out your trades during the session after the fact, sometimes a couple of bars later.if you are going to discuss your trades during the webinar i would prefer that you do that before not after the entries.i so far am not chasing your trades but it is possible that could become the outcome. if you are sticking to the premise of the webinar, training, then i would suggest talk about your trades during the summary period after the trading day. i would learn a lot more from that then trying to go backward during the day and figuring out what your premise for the trade was or starting to chase your trades. nelson7lim: i havent been to the webinar before and is really wondering how is it in there. i think if admin has time and it's possible, maybe you guys can do a small preview of how it looks like inside, to let new comers see for themselves what is it inside, instead of reading comments from different people. it would be nice.. the other thing.. is there any way the webinar can be recorded? i mean, sometimes people wants to be there at the webinar, but can't make it because they have something to deal with. with the recorded webinar, they can come back, review what al has gone through. and it is also good for revision, for example. because it's real time, we dont have any anticipation what al will be saying, and we somehow will miss a few points here and there. but with the recorded webinar, we can go back, look through the video and listen to it again and have a clearer picture. thank you for reading. EDIT: sorry. i did not know that recording was already available. is there any short preview of the webinar so i can see what it feels like in the room and decide whether to join? Today I was in the trade room and found that itreinforced what I learned in the course.I did have questions but didn't know how to ask them. it would be nice if there was a time in the day for question or at the end of the day. Please don't take my comments as negative Al does a great job in the room. but it would be great if i had someone to discuss thisstuff with even if it wasn't AL just one of his more experienced students Thanks Bill BPAAdmin: Al answers up to five questions at the end of the day. Instructions for asking questions can be found in the thread where you get the daily webinar link. Al also takes questions in Forums where he posts his Daily Trading Updates. Only people who have subscribed in the last few months can ask questions there. You can also post on the forums and see if other people want to answer your questions.
